A “QUICK!” Review of “Fall (2022)”

If you ignore the fact that this movie’s premise wouldn’t have happened if the characters acted like normal human beings and notified someone the dangerous place they were going beforehand. The movie is genuinely quite tense and thrilling, with some impressive camera shots. It does unfortunately have clumsy dialogue, weak acting, dumb melodrama and a very predictable plot. The moral of the story: Get better friends that are not Hunter…

A “QUICK!” Review of “Hacksaw Ridge (2016)”

This movie is still incredibly enjoyable even after rewatching. It’s genuinely impressive that this story is actually based on a real person! The first act is a bit cliche and overly melodramatic. It has the really bland romance, the violent drunk dad, the clumsy dialogue that you seen dozens of times. However, once you get to the second half with the military training is when the story really shines. The conflict between his morals of not wanting to hold a gun due to religious belief vs the army leads to some proper moving storytelling. All of this builds up to the final act, the war, and this is just absolutely exhilarating! The movie delivers on horrific and tense war scenes that blow a lot of other WWII movies out the water. Mel Gibson delivered a phenomenal WWII movie with great battle scenes and Andrew Garfield gives a terrific performance as Desmond Doss. Hacksaw Ridge is still one of the must-watch WWII films.

A “QUICK!” Review of “Beast (2022)”

I came in to see Idris Elba punch a Lion I came out wishing he would punch his kids

A “QUICK!” Review of “The Sea Beast (2022)”

The water animation was so good, my Dad thought it was a live-action movie. Pixar and Dreamwork have dominated the animation industry but Netflix Animation is showing that they can deliver an animation film just as good. It’s a thrilling voyage with a lot of heart.

A “QUICK!” Review of “Day Shift (2022)”

Director: Here is a bunch of exposition dumps about the 5 types of vampires with them having different hierarchy and different regeneration rules and bloodsucking rules Me: Okay but is this important? Director: No Me: Then why??? Director: Hey look this guy pee pee his pants! Day Shift is a vampire slaying action flick with an interesting premise but a dull execution. It’s a high budget B grade style movie pretty much. However, the movie at least rolls with it. It has cool vampire slaying action despite the poor writing, characters, world building and even the comedy. It feels like a 90s style movie in modern day and I can see some enjoyment in that.

A Review of “Nope (2022)”

Jordan Peele has genuinely surprised me with his capabilities as a director. Who would’ve thought that a comedian could be so good at making genuinely interesting horror movies? So hearing how his next movie was going to be sci-fi horror, I was already onboard! Was Nope another homerun from Peele or is the title a perfect feeling for this film? What stood out the most about this film to me was how amazing it looks. It is probably the most visually stunning movie Peele made so far. It’s impressive that Peele managed to make a dull-looking setting, look beautiful. The cinematography captures the mesmerizing yet unsettling atmosphere of the story. Another aspect that makes this movie work so well is the terrific sound design. Hearing something moving in the clouds, the music slowing down and becoming deeper, a light turning off in the distance, the screams. The way Nope uses sounds to create creepy scenes is just wonderful. The mystery surrounding the UFO is incredibly en
